Vendor Love: Full Moon Farm

April 15, 2013

Hello lovelies! I hope you’re all having a marvelous Monday so far! Now, speaking of marvelous, I’ve discovered another gorgeous resource that I wanted to share with you. I recently stumbled upon the most picturesque farmhouse and barn, PERFECT for a charming, rustic wedding. Have you ever heard of Full Moon Farm in upstate New York? It’s in the Catskills and it’s absolutely gorgeous.

This Hudson Valley farm dates back to sometime around 1790 and is steeped in history. The farmhouse was lost in a fire in 2007 but the 30 foot by 40 foot barn somehow escaped unscathed and still stands today in all of its rustic glory. I guess it knew it had a job to do: play host to your amazing wedding!

If you have your heart set on a rustic wedding, this location is ideal. To be perfectly honest, it does take quite a lot of vision (and budget, let’s admit it) to transform a completely raw space into a stunning setting for a wedding but if you’re up for the challenge, I think it’s so worth it!

After the fire in 2007, the farmhouse was sustainably re-built into a luxurious abode with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. If you’re having your wedding in the barn, the farmhouse is the perfect place for the wedding party to dress and take photos before the main event. It’s also available as a vacation rental if you’re planning an entire weekend of festivities.

I just love this little New York gem! Even if a barn wedding is not your thing, it’s such a beautiful location for an engagement photo shoot, don’t you think?

Be sure to check out their website to learn more about the property and to request more information.

Vendor Love: Nidhi Chanani

September 12, 2011

Happy Monday lovelies! If you’ve been reading our little blog for a while, you’ll know that I only write Vendor Love posts when I fall completely head-over-heels in love with something and I feel like I must share (for the good of mankind). Well, I’m in love. And I MUST share.

While browsing on Etsy a couple weeks ago, I stumbled upon the work of Nidhi Chanani and I immediately became obsessed. Nidhi (pronounced ‘nitty’, rhymes with kitty) is a San Francisco based illustrator and designer who was born in Calcutta, India and raised in suburban California. Her work is inspired by life and love and all the sweet little moments shared with loved ones. I just adore the simple, colorful, whimsical style of her work and I particularly love her cute couples illustrations…

Adorable, right?!  Many of Nidhi’s illustrations are inspired by her husband (who she calls her hubbahubba – awww) and their daily life together but she also does commission work for other couples!

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have an illustration created especially for you and your sweetie? I think it’s such a perfect idea for newlyweds… or even to commemorate an anniversary. I’m seriously considering having one done for me and my own hubbahubba!

This great post on Nidhi’s blog walks through the process for commissioned prints – so fun to see how it all comes together! If you’d like to commission a print, convo Nidhi via her Etsy shop or email her directly at nidhinecco {at} gmail {dot} com.

By the way, she also creates the cutest children’s illustrations you’ve ever seen…

I read somewhere that Nidhi creates art because it makes her happy, with hopes it can make others happy, too. I can safely say that she has succeeded… browsing through her work really makes me smile… and I hope it makes you happy too!

One of my favorite dresses from their Spring 2011 collection is Bali Ha’i’ – I love the color (it’s close to the color ‘Phlox’ which was just featured in Pantone’s 2011 Color Report) and it’s classic, timeless style. I also love the fact that you can rock it with casual flats or spice it up with a killer pair of pumps. Know what’s even better about this dress? You can win it!!! Yup, Shabby Apple is giving this Bali Ha’i’ dress to one of you lovely Flights of Fancy readers*!

Cake Opera Co.

December 21, 2010

This is quite possibly the best thing since the invention of cake. I first spotted this Canadian company way back in January when their Pomegranate cake was featured on one of Style Me Pretty’s Inspiration to Reality posts and I was recently reminded of their fabulousness when I saw this little write-up on one of my favorite blogs.

The work of Cake Opera Co. is simply stunning and I just love how unabashedly over-the-top they are (a giant feathered bird atop a wedding cake? Why the heck not!). Along with their extremely artistic cakes and perfect little confections, they’re now also creating Operettas – their version of the dessert table. Love it!

They’ve also just announced these lovely gift-wrapped treats!…

These decadent sweets are conceptualized and created by artist Alexandria Pellegrino and pastry chef Jessica Smith who seem just as fabulous as their confections…

If you haven’t seen it already, you should definitely check out their website. Yum.
