The Peach State

October 5, 2009

I think it’s safe to say that the color Peach is making a comeback. This shade used to conjure up images of bad 80’s bridesmaid dresses (for me anyway) but recently, it seems to be taking on a new life. This modern version of Peach is more like Coral‘s soft, lovely cousin rather than the outdated pastel of the past. I have to say, I’m diggin’ Peach’s new look… especially when used with a slightly vintage style.

Since Georgia is ‘The Peach State’, it’s only fitting that this sweet, vintage-inspired wedding would take place somewhere in Savannah…

Quaint Country Chic

July 13, 2009

Forgive my tangent but I can’t seem to stop playing around with red, white and blue combinations and 4th of July inspired boards….sorry, I can’t help myself. This time I was daydreaming of a quaint little wedding in the country somewhere with a few vintage touches and a sweet red, white and light blue palette.

Summer Picnic Wedding

June 15, 2009

I must admit that I’m quite smitten with the summer picnic trend that has been gaining popularity in wedding blogland lately…then this amazing photo shoot by Tec Petaja (which I’m sure you’ve seen by now), sent me right over the edge. I am so in LOVE. Please – someone, anyone – please have a summer picnic wedding!

Laid Back Labor Day Wedding

March 30, 2009

This week’s board was inspired by one of our readers who is planning a Southern wedding during the Labor Day weekend this year. The wedding will be held at a working farm with the ceremony taking place in a small clearing in the woods, while the reception will take place in the farm’s apple orchard. The groom is planning to wear a seersucker suit while the bride will wear a simple strapless gown. The couple wants their wedding to be a laid-back celebration for their family and friends and were hoping we could give them a little inspiration for the event.

Well, it sounds like this will be such a charming wedding! Here’s what we came up with…

A few ideas that might add to the charm…

:: Take advantage of having the reception in an apple orchard – use apples as paperweights to keep escort cards in place.

:: Instead of signing a guest book, have guests write notes and well wishes on little cards then pin them up on a line with clothespins.

:: A hand-painted “Wedding This Way” sign is a must!

:: Use simple, inexpensive buckets and pails as vases for the centerpieces. Inexpensive flowers like carnations look great when used in large clusters of a single color.

:: Instead of the typical wedding cake, serve delicious home-made cakes and pies.

:: Download our paper bag favor labels to create DIY favors! Fill the bags with fresh strawberries, cherries or other goodies straight from the farm!

(Good luck with the wedding planning Allison! We would love to see photos!)
