Classic Finds: A Little Shimmer

May 28, 2010

Sarah from Classic Bride is back with us every Friday to share a few of her favorite finds, inspiration and ideas for chic, classic weddings. Here’s this week’s find:

I’m forecasting grey sparkles to enter as the new black … or for the wedding world, the new white. I think a peppering of silvery shine would look so updated and modern for the right bride … whether it’s a loose cardi, a belt, a headband or any other accessory, I’m definitely feeling that sparkle is back and honestly … what better day to shine than on your wedding day?

Classic Finds: Perfect Scents

May 21, 2010

Sarah from Classic Bride is back with us every Friday to share a few of her favorite finds, inspiration and ideas for chic, classic weddings. Here’s this week’s find:

Perfume bottles are often so pretty that I have a hard time just throwing them out … I’ve been known to keep several well after I had used up every last ounce and later turn in them into bath salt containers {check out this fun tutorial on the subject as well as some much more fabulous looking examples than my own!} … If you also share a soft spot for the pretties, why not incorporate them in your big day? I love the idea of rounding up a handful of ornate vintage bottles and sprinkling them around the floral centerpieces. You could fit a small bloom in each bottle or for an even more unique angle … you could fill each bottle with a signature scent. Maybe you and your love could concoct a special blend for you to wear on your wedding day and have some extra made up to fill the bottles … I love that the scent would always remind you of your wedding.

Classic Finds: Purple Haze

May 14, 2010

Sarah from Classic Bride is back with us every Friday to share a few of her favorite finds, inspiration and ideas for chic, classic weddings. Here’s this week’s find:

Loving how fresh a purple palette is feeling. It’s amazing how a simple color can make everything look and feel so much more radiant and beautiful … how heavenly would it be to saturate a wedding in a single hue? From the vintage car, to the flowering trees to the bouquet to the centerpieces … all a lovely shade of lavender.

Classic Finds: Vintage Fans

May 7, 2010

Sarah from Classic Bride is back with us every Friday to share a few of her favorite finds, inspiration and ideas for chic, classic weddings. Here’s this week’s find:

vintage fans

Last week I divulged my growing crush on vintage alarm clocks … this week I’ll let you in on another: I’ve had a serious thing for vintage fans for as long as I can remember. I think it started with trips to my grandmother’s house before I even understood the concept of “vintage.” I would fall asleep to the peaceful hum and whir of an old metal fan and perhaps I’ve equated that sound with all of the love and happiness that existed under that house. Whatever the reason, I adore the graceful curves of the metal and the oftentimes pastel shades of the base and blades. My mother keeps an antique fan in her kitchen during for those hot Southern months and I have one in my office just to appreciate its beauty.

They emit such a friendly vibe and can easily stand alone as a piece of artwork, making them the perfect wedding accessory in my mind. I think they’d be beyond lovely placed around a long dining table for an outdoor summer wedding … a great vintage touch and a stylish way to cool off guests. ;o)
