Classic Finds: Can Can

June 25, 2010

Sarah from Classic Bride is back with us every Friday to share a few of her favorite finds, inspiration and ideas for chic, classic weddings. Here’s this week’s find:

Is there anything more simple … more classic … more darling than stringing cans to the tail of the bride and groom’s getaway car? I’ve always loved the tradition and I adore when there’s a slight twist or tweak to the old standby … painting the cans white or dolling it up with pretty ribbons … fabulous!

picnic wedding

What’s not to love about picnics? The heirloom quilts, the classic gingham, the home-made treats, the wine {which is always in abundance at my kind of picnics (o; }, the cloud-watching … it’s all so idyllic. Even the standard picnic basket emits a huge amount of cheer. So why not translate those happy feelings into a wedding? We’ve seen the theme carried out in e-shoots time and time again and it works like a charm each time … I’m loving the idea of little quilts spread about a lawn standing in for tables and loads and loads of cozy pillows standing in for the chairs … maybe a spontaneous game of croquet could come about after the cake cutting?

Classic Finds: Pink!

June 11, 2010

Sarah from Classic Bride is back with us every Friday to share a few of her favorite finds, inspiration and ideas for chic, classic weddings. Here’s this week’s find:

What’s not to love about this flirty, feminine, just wanna have fun color? A staple from most any girl’s childhood, it’s bursting with cheer and makes a lovely statement at a soiree. I love imagining a wedding saturated in varying hues of pink … ranging from blush-tone macarons to a fuschia crinoline to bubblegum-coloured heels …

What color would you saturate your wedding in?

Classic Finds: Hints of the Circus

June 4, 2010

Sarah from Classic Bride is back with us every Friday to share a few of her favorite finds, inspiration and ideas for chic, classic weddings. Here’s this week’s find:

The circus theme may have flirted with or even hit a fevered pitch these past few years but I think if you take the general idea and illustrate it throughout your event in a non-literal way, you can create a completely fresh feel and look and people will be raving about your genius vision.

I’m thinking pastel striped tents … lots of vintage light-up letters from signs {bonus points if you snag a pair with you and your love’s initials} … massive amounts of string lights … a cotton candy stand for kids {and kids at heart} … and popcorn as favors …

What would your ideas be?
