Color Coded: Electric Blue

March 19, 2012

Blue usually has a calming effect, but electric blue is dynamic, mysterious and unexpected like a “blue moon.” As we move into warmer weather, we can also note that Chinese culture associates blue with spring! Raoul Dufy, a French Fauvist Painter in the early 1900’s, proved the statement “true blue” when he stated that, “Blue is the only color which maintains its own character in all its tones…it will always stay blue; whereas yellow is blackened in its shades, and fades away when lightened; red when darkened becomes brown, and diluted with white is no longer red, but another color – pink.”

Stationery & Style: Feeling Green

March 16, 2012

Throwing a party for St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow? I decided to create a round-up of some favorite current fashion pieces to celebrate the Irish, the color green and everything in between. This outfit is sure to escape any of those yearly pinches, but it’s also guaranteed to turn a few heads as well. Keeping with the most recent trends of colored cropped pants and loose-fitting blouses, and throwing in some neutrals such as gold and brown; this outfit is sure to be a conversation starter at any get together! Enjoy!

Trendspotting: Romantic Hair

March 15, 2012

Romance is here in a huge way – long tendrils of hair or wispy braids dripping with beautiful flowers and ornaments are being seen in all kinds of weddings. This style can be paired with a modern look or a more vintage one, and can be accomplished with small details like pins or lace or with bright colorful floral wreaths.
