Inspired Intern: Somewhere in Time
I could gush and gush about my inspiration this week, so I’ll try to keep it within reason. Mackinac Island, located on Lake Huron in Michigan is a charming step back in time. It’s a mere eight miles around, and accessible only by ferry or plane. The best part? There are no cars. None. Transportation consists of horse carriages and bicycles. It is so incredibly lovely and seemingly unaffected by the hustle and bustle of the outside world. To my knowledge, the lone Starbucks – which I was shocked to see during my last visit, is the first and only major chain on island.
Between the Victorian summer cottages, the iconic Grand Hotel, and the multitude of old-fashioned fudge shops (the island’s specialty), what isn’t inspiring about this place? Here are my picks for romantic vintage touches inspired by Mackinac…
I highly recommend Mackinac, whether you’re lucky enough to be married there or like me just love to visit whenever possible – I promise its charm will provide you with endless inspiration as well.
By the way, Andrejka Photography does a lot of gorgeous Mackinac weddings, and bonus points to anyone who noticed that I featured a Mackinac wedding image in my first ‘Inspired Intern’ post – the full wedding is featured on Style Me Pretty here.
Until next time,
Laura
