Classic Finds: Perfect Timing

April 30, 2010

Sarah from Classic Bride is back with us every Friday to share a few of her favorite finds, inspiration and ideas for chic, classic weddings. Here’s this week’s find:

vintage alarm clocks

I develop crushes on different collections of vintage ephemera like a 12-year-old girl does with boy bands. And right now I am crushing hard on vintage clocks – specifically alarm or travel clocks … their retro curves and sensible designs are irresistible to me. I love grouping three of varying sizes together and placing them in unexpected spots – the guest bathroom, the kitchen, a random bookshelf, you get the idea …

And I think they would be a delicious accent for a wedding. While they certainly offer up a more-than-suitable flair for an Alice in Wonderland-inspired soiree, I think they’d make for a fantastic touch at a wedding with any theme {or no theme at all} … Time ties us all together and you could easily create a mini-theme by setting the clocks to a certain meaningful time – maybe the moment your groom proposed to you or the moment you first kissed … any time that holds a special meaning would be just perfect. I think the miniature clocks would look divine clustered together or scattered throughout floral centerpieces. And if you’re in love with that blue charmer, he can be all yours as he’s for sale in my shop – just click here for details.

Inspired Intern: By The Book

April 29, 2010

I am a big fan of this week’s inspiration: the use of recycled books as low cost wedding decor. It’s amazing what the pages of an old book can become. You can get such a classic feel from the off-white pages of an old romance novel…

…but add a little color and they turn into something more whimsical and down-right fun!:

Hope you enjoy!

vera wang wedding dresses

Hello, Flights of Fancy Readers!  Today is the final installment of my guest blogging series, and so it seemed like the perfect time to discuss the quintessential wedding element – dresses.  I think that is one of the first things that comes to mind when the planning process begins, and its certainly one of the most fun elements of designing your wedding!

My favorite dresses are classic with just a hint of modern touch, and no one does that better than Vera Wang.  I love that for the Fall she has thrown in hints of black with all her designs…nothing says “classic” more than black and white.  An entire wedding could easily be created around one of these gorgeous gowns!
