It’s a bit early in the year to determine what will be the big trends in weddings for 2010 but I am starting to see a few recurring details here an there. One of them is l.o.v.e. Spelling it out, that is.

It will be interesting to see if this trend takes off…

We’re really thrilled for our friend (and frequent guest blogger) Sarah Darcy from Classic Bride who has just introduced a brand new online endeavor: CB Vintage!

Color Palettes

Sage, Burlap and Persimmon

Last week’s palette was pretty bold and vibrant. Today, I’m in the mood for something a bit more serene. This one was totally inspired by the gorgeous photo below by Kim Kyung Soo which I spotted over on Simple Blueprint back in January.

This would make a great palette for a Spring wedding and actually incorporates a couple of the colors predicted to be big hits for the Spring 2010 season. We’ll talk more about color predictions next week. For now, a little serenity:

Enjoy Cupcakes

California baker - Enjoy Cupcakes

I’m sure by now many of you have already discovered Enjoy Cupcakes since they’ve been featured on several blogs lately. Nonetheless, I couldn’t help but give them a little vendor love here on Flights of Fancy as well. If this is your first time hearing about this cute cupcakery, you’re in for a treat!

Owned by husband and wife team Amber and Kevin Vander Vliet, this sweet and stylish California-based bakery offers gourmet cupcakes in just about every flavor imaginable. Given their location (wine country), it makes sense that their signature cupcake is Chocolate Blackberry Syrah which is filled with dark chocolate Belgium fudge and topped with blackberry frosting and a syrah-soaked blackberry.

If you prefer your cupcakes without wine, there are also several chocolate-based flavors to choose from like Triple Chocolate Mousse, Subtle Spicy Chocolate and Smores or you can indulge in vanilla-based flavors like Coconut Key Lime, Caramel Crème Brulée or Strawberry Lemonade (yum!). If there’s a special flavor have in mind, Amber can whip that up too!

Cupcake (and wine) connoisseurs can visit Amber at the Saarloos & Sons tasting lounge in Los Olivos on weekends – a stylish space with elegant, vintage-inspired details (shown above)…but what I’m most in love with is their cupcake trailer:

Enjoy Cupcakes can bring the bakery to your event and serve their delicious treats out of an adorable vintage Shasta trailer! How cute is that?!?

I recently had a lovely chat with Amber and had the opportunity to ask her a couple questions about her business:

Q: I just love the cupcake trailer! How did that idea come about?
A: I was reading and came across a post about a girl in Kansas who was selling gourmet sno cones out of a vintage trailer and it completely inspired me.

Q: As a baker you could have chosen a number of specialties… why cupcakes?
A: I find cupcakes to be extremely versatile.  People often ask, “do you only make cupcakes?” and my response is, “no, I make creme brulee, caramels, puddings, fresh fruit curds, baklava, chocolate mousse, toffee, fudge, cheesecake, and more – all for the cupcakes!”

Q: What’s your favorite flavor?
A: I honestly don’t have one!  I guess it depends on my mood  :)   I can tell you that our most popular flavor is the Chocolate Blackberry Syrah and I’m a sucker for PB & Chocolate together.

Q: For those of us who are completely bummed that we don’t live in California, any chance that your cute trailer would travel to other states?
A: Unfortunately, no.  Serving cupcakes out of the trailer is a pretty small part of our overall business. We have a store front (and are opening a second one on March 11) so that keeps us pretty tied down and close to home.  We do overnight ship our cupcakes though!
