Nancy Liu Chin: Modest Chic
As you know, Nancy Liu Chin will be joining us every Tuesday this month to share her floral expertise…let’s see what tips and tidbits she has for us today…
Sometimes when it comes to picking flowers, showy flowers such as garden roses, hydrangea, anemones, peonies and orchids get all the attention – yet I sometimes like it when couples choose modest flowers like the humble “spider” mum or cutesy “gerbera” daisies. Even though these flowers are often not as popular or desirable, when arranged with flair they can be ever as gracious and pretty.
{Here is a wedding Nancy designed incorporating Gerbera daisies in a chic way}:
When thinking about your wedding flowers, don’t forget our humble friends. Here is a list of some of my favorite “humble” flowers that are making a comeback:
Peruvian Lilies
Stock
Snapdragons
Daisies
Asters
Spider Mums
Gerbera daisies
Green Gladiolus
Nigella
Scabiosa
Carnations
Sweet William
Irises
Sunflowers
When in doubt, you can always put these modest blooms in tight clusters.
Enjoy!
