Twigs and Honey

April 16, 2009

New find!…well, new to us anyway. I just discovered Twigs & Honey (via Twig & Thistle, another daily read…no relation). Aren’t these just the most beautiful accessories?! Completely swoon worthy…

Owner and designer Myra Callan makes hair pins, headbands, jewelry, belts and boutonnieres. She even designs and makes the most amazing outfits for herself! Very talented indeed. Now all I need is a good excuse to wear one of these hair accessories every day for the rest of my life…

Be sure to check out the Twigs & Honey website to shop online and visit the blog for more gorgeous images.

Color Palettes

Mint, Coral and Ivory

April 15, 2009

Today’s palette was actually inspired by Katie, one of our readers who wrote me to say that she has chosen mint green and coral for her wedding palette but is having a hard time finding inspiration images featuring that particular combination. Well Katie, I hope this helps!

The bride and bridesmaids: Flowers in shades of light green would look quite pretty against coral bridesmaid dresses. To add a little color to the bride’s ensemble (without being too distracting), the bride’s bouquet could incorporate the same colors but in slightly paler shades. For a little punch of fun, unexpected color, the bride could wear coral colored shoes.

The groom and groomsmen: Tan or khaki suits would work well with this combination. The groomsmen could wear coral colored ties (to coordinate with the bridesmaid dresses) while the groom wears a mint tie with a single ivory bloom for the boutonniere.

Stationery Options: Our Quinn wedding invitation printed in Olive ink on Meadow paper would work quite well with this palette.

We also posted an extended version of this palette on the Southern Weddings blog…see it here.

I Fancy That

April 14, 2009

There’s no rule stating that everything wedding-related needs to be full of frills and fluff and tulle. Here’s a little eye candy for the minimalist bride…

Wedding Inspiration

Sweet Library Love

April 13, 2009

Here’s a little inspiration if you met your honey at a book store or the library or you just have a love affair with all things literary. Rather than sign a guest book, guests can type notes to the bride and groom on a vintage typewriter, piles of books could be incorporated into the centerpieces and library cards can be used as place cards. Incorporating a soft color like blush adds just the right amount of sweetness.
