Wedding Inspiration

Laid Back Labor Day Wedding

March 30, 2009

This week’s board was inspired by one of our readers who is planning a Southern wedding during the Labor Day weekend this year. The wedding will be held at a working farm with the ceremony taking place in a small clearing in the woods, while the reception will take place in the farm’s apple orchard. The groom is planning to wear a seersucker suit while the bride will wear a simple strapless gown. The couple wants their wedding to be a laid-back celebration for their family and friends and were hoping we could give them a little inspiration for the event.

Well, it sounds like this will be such a charming wedding! Here’s what we came up with…

Featured Design: Love Logo #19 wedding invitation

A few ideas that might add to the charm…

:: Take advantage of having the reception in an apple orchard – use apples as paperweights to keep escort cards in place.

:: Instead of signing a guest book, have guests write notes and well wishes on little cards then pin them up on a line with clothespins.

:: A hand-painted “Wedding This Way” sign is a must!

:: Use simple, inexpensive buckets and pails as vases for the centerpieces. Inexpensive flowers like carnations look great when used in large clusters of a single color.

:: Instead of the typical wedding cake, serve delicious home-made cakes and pies.

:: Download our paper bag favor labels to create DIY favors! Fill the bags with fresh strawberries, cherries or other goodies straight from the farm!

(Good luck with the wedding planning Allison! We would love to see photos!)

The NotWedding – Spring 2009

March 27, 2009

Atlanta Brides: The Not Wedding is just days away! The last event which took place in November was a big hit – this spring it’s back, and promises to be bigger and better!

In case you missed it last year, The NotWedding is basically a big, fake wedding that shows off some of the city’s most talented vendors in action. Guests can partake in a cocktail hour, an all-out ceremony full of surprises, and an amazing reception.

This year’s event will be held at the W Atlanta Buckhead on April 5th. Check out the NotWedding website to purchase tickets ($25) and for more details. Admission includes a gift bag (the first 100 receive a super-deluxe bag)… food, drinks and dancing… a raffle ticket… and quite possibly the most fun you’ll ever have!
