WEDDING DATE: June 2, 2007
LOCATION: Atlanta, Georgia
CEREMONY: Emory Presbyterian Church
RECEPTION: Fernbank Museum of Natural History
PHOTOGRAPHER: Manuel Llaneras
INVITATION: (Sorry, this design has been discontinued. Please see our current designs here)
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS INVITATION?: The invitations we chose exemplified just what we wanted in our event. The coolness of the custom blue ink on the ivory card, with the flower motif, made the invitations look striking without looking sterile, cool while still warm. That was exactly what we were trying to achieve.
WEDDING STYLE: While there was no specific theme, we focused on creating an event that was elegant, while understated in some specific ways. Cool and elegant in the deep south in June. The bridal gown and bridesmaid dresses featured simple, clean lines, and the cake was striking in its bold simplicity. We did not want as impressive a place as the Fernbank to be detracted from by overdone details, but wanted a touch of color to keep the look of the event from seeming too monochrome and sterile.
FAVORITE DETAILS: Wearing a wedding dress from Coral Gables that was purchased out just a couple of miles from my childhood home and custom-designed added a touch of personalization. It was a like having a piece of South Florida with me throughout the night. The necklace and earrings that coordinated with the dress were designed by, and a wedding gift from, my childhood best friend and bridesmaid, Melissa Minton, www.mintgems.com.
FAVORITE MOMENTS: The first dance photo is my favorite, and the song that we danced to, “Meant to Be” by the Squirrel Nut Zippers, suited us perfectly. We took a risk of having the band learn a new song just for us, and it was one of the highlights of the evening for us.
