Stacey and Ryan

For our latest real wedding feature, we’re headed to Hawaii. Stacey and Ryan were married last October on Big Island in a beautiful tropical setting which worked just perfectly with our Cory invitation.

WEDDING DATE: October 2, 2009
LOCATION: Kohala Coast, Big Island, Hawaii
CEREMONY AND RECEPTION: Mauna Kea Beach Hotel
PHOTOGRAPHER: Toby Hoogs Photography
FLOWERS BY: Flowers by Heidi
GOWN BY: Jim Hjelm – Ivory Silk Taffeta modified A-line bridal gown, strapless empire pleated bodice accented with crystal flower detail, pleated watteau back, chapel train
BRIDESMAID DRESSES BY: Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent
GROOM’S ATTIRE BY: The Groom wore a Joseph Abboud suit and the groomsmen wore Tommy Bahama silk shirts and Banana Republic pants.

STATIONERY: Stacey and Ryan ordered a complete suite of stationery in the Cory design, including the save the dates, the invitation suite, thank you notes, menu cards, place cards and wedding programs.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS INVITATION?: Because we were having a destination wedding, our save-the-dates were one of the very first design element decisions we made.  I wanted something that was simple and clean, but also elegant and sophisticated.  We were able to incorporate the starfish theme throughout the wedding.

STACEY’S FAVORITE DETAIL: My favorite wedding detail was definitely the flowers.  I wanted flowers that represented Hawaii but that were still elegant and contemporary.  The table arrangements, bouquets, and especially my lei, was so wonderfully fragrant all night long.

STACEY’S MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: Other than the wedding ceremony itself, my favorite moment was when we got to the reception and I saw that the reception decor and details had turned out even better than I imagined.  I could finally relax and enjoy everything!  Many thanks to the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel for providing first-class service, top-notch food and one of the most beautiful places on earth!  It was true paradise and Ryan and I feel so lucky we have such a special place to go back to.

Congrats to Stacey and Ryan – thanks for sharing your photos!

Formal Introduction: Emmy

I showed you the inspiration behind the Emmy design earlier today… now, here’s the invitation.

Simple. Sweet. And totally fem. Although scalloped around the edges, Emmy is strong enough to hang with the guys.

What makes Emmy even more appealing is that it’s one of our Simple Solutions designs which means it’s even more affordable than our standard collection. To see more of what Emmy has to offer, click here.

Invitation Inspiration: Emmy

I’ll leave you this week with another peek into what inspired one of this year’s new designs.

The idea for the new Emmy invitation was actually sparked by the Jeremy Lawson photo below (fourth row, on the right). It’s a simple image but the bold stripes on the awning combined with its scalloped edges made me think of using hard lines and soft details to create a design that would appeal to both the bride and groom. I wanted to create a design that was pretty, yet simple and strong.
