When should I send my baby announcements?
Ideally, announcements should be sent as close to the birth as possible. Considering how busy new mums and dads are, it is acceptable to send announcements up to six months after the birth.

So that you have a little less to think about when baby arrives, we recommend that you do the following a month or two before your due date:
- browse our collection and choose your favorite design
- decide who you will send announcements to, compile your list of names and addresses
- purchase your stamps

Who should I send announcements to?
This is completely up to you. Announcements can be sent to family, close friends, good neighbours…anyone with whom you’d like to share your exciting news.

What should the announcement say?
The announcement should include the baby’s date of birth, weight (in pounds and ounces) and length and who is announcing the arrival (parents, grandparents, etc). It is not necessary to include a personal hand-written note in each announcement. Please take a look at our Baby Wording Guide for wording suggestions.

Should the baby’s siblings be listed on the announcement?
It is not required but it is appropriate to list siblings on the announcement. Take a look at our Baby Wording Guide for a few suggestions.

What if the parents are unmarried?
If parents are unmarried, we recommend listing the names on two separate lines, with the mother’s name listed first.

What if the mother kept her maiden name?
Include the full names of both parents on the announcement. There’s no need to list the parents’ names on separate lines.

Do I have to spell out “Junior”?
Unlike with more formal event invitations, it is not necessary to spell out Junior on a baby announcement.

Do I need to include a photograph of my baby with the announcements?
This is completely your choice. Some parents choose to include a photo of their newborn, while others choose to wait until their baby is a few months old. If you’ve had portraits taken of your baby, one of our Keepsake Photo Announcements would be a great choice.

Why would I need baby thank you notes or other stationery?
With a new baby, you will receive lots of attention, gifts and help from friends and family. Thank you notes which match your announcements or shower invitations are a stylish way to show your appreciation!

Requesting Gifts
It is never proper to request gifts or direct recipients to a gift registry. Those who receive your announcement or shower invitation will contact you or a family member at their own discretion to find our where you are registered. When you do receive a gift or thoughtful note, always send a thank you note as soon as possible.
